The Wavewatcher’s Companion

by Gavin Pretor-Pinney

This is a brilliant book for anyone curious about the world around them, but not wanting an over-technical explanation. It passes across the boundaries between physics, chemistry and biology and various other disciplines. The author poses good questions and he really likes to get them answered. It ranges widely – from waves in the sea to brain waves, from electromagnetic waves to sand dunes (are they really waves, he  asks). Highly recommended.
